Senior Test Engineer – Playwright Automation

Experience: 2–5 years
Role: Senior Test Engineer / Test Automation Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for a skilled Senior Test Engineer with 2–5 years of relevant experience in functional and automation testing. The candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Playwright, along with experience in designing and executing test cases, maintaining regression/sanity suites, defect management, and following testing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to define effective test scenarios.
  • Design, create, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases.
  • Develop and maintain Playwright-based automation test suites.
  • Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, system, API, integration, security, performance, and release testing as applicable.
  • Identify positive, negative, boundary, and corner test scenarios.
  • Review automated test scripts and test results.
  • Maintain regression and sanity automation packs.
  • Identify defects and maintain clear defect records using JIRA.
  • Ensure traceability of testing activities, defects, and results.
  • Perform root cause analysis for defect leakage and enhance test coverage accordingly.
  • Continuously improve overall test automation coverage and testing processes.
  • Work closely with development and other stakeholders to maintain product quality.
  • Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
  • Guide junior test engineers and support knowledge-sharing/training activities.
  • Independently plan and drive assigned testing activities to closure.

  • Automotive domain knowledge
  • DTC Authoring / diagnostic tool-related testing
  • API and integration testing exposure
  • ISTQB or equivalent testing certification

Job Responsibilities

Verify quality of requirements and reject if insufficient for qualified development and test creation
• Translate functional and non-functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria into various test cases
• Define, create and execute test cases for manual and for automated execution
• Define, create and execute test cases for different levels and stages (system, API, integration, regression, security, performance, release)
• Define, create and execute test cases to validate the inter-operability of the software with other tools of the KPIT diagnostic tool chain if applicable.
• Actively look for ways to break the software
• Review test code of other test engineers
• Follow up discovered issues with descriptive defect records using the standard tooling (JIRA)
• Ensure traceability of all testing related activities and results using standard workflow and tooling (JIRA)
• Maintain high hygiene in testing activities and processes
• Influence other stakeholders to ensure quality expectations are met.
• Constantly increase level of test automation and related processes where possible and beneficial
• Plan testing activities in close cooperation with or as part of the development team / authoring team
• Proactively gather data to highlight system improvement areas
• Participate in all scrum ceremonies
• Plan and organize training of test engineers.
• Perform root cause analysis on why reported bugs were not detected by our test team (Leakage Cause) and enhance own test scenarios accordingly
