Role: CAD Design Engineer

Relevant Experience: 4 to 6 years

Essential Competencies:
  1. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design and product-development principles.
  2. Hands-on experience in 3D modelling, assembly creation, and 2D drafting using Siemens NX.
  3. Experience with Windchill or a similar PLM system for part creation, BOM management, drawing revisions, and release of components and assemblies.
  4. Experience in the design of plastic, injection-moulded parts, Aluminium castings, machined, and sheet-metal parts
  5. Experience in designing electro-mechanical parts
  6. Knowledge of product-development and engineering processes, including requirement analysis, concept development, detailed design, design reviews, design freeze, prototype development, validation, and final release.
  7. Good knowledge of GD&T, datum systems, fits and tolerances, tolerance stack-up analysis, manufacturing drawings, and drawing interpretation.
  8. Working knowledge of engineering tools and processes such as BOM, DFMEA/FMEA, DRBFM, FTA, DFM, DFA, SAP, and engineering change management.
  9. Ability to review supplier drawings, dimensional inspection reports, manufacturing feedback, and component deviations.
  10. Understanding of mechanical packaging, fastening, sealing, thermal interfaces, assembly requirements, and material selection.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop mechanical concepts and layouts according to product, packaging, and functional requirements
  2. Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using Siemens NX
  3. Design casted, machined, plastic, injection-moulded, and sheet-metal components.
  4. Prepare manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, material specifications, and surface-finish requirements.
  5. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis for critical component and assembly interfaces.
  6. Select appropriate materials based on product requirements, operating conditions, manufacturing processes, and material properties.
  7. Create and maintain part structures, engineering BOMs, drawings, and assemblies in Windchill.
  8. Release parts and assemblies and support drawing revisions and engineering changes
  9. Coordinate with electronics hardware, PCB, CAE, motor, testing, manufacturing, procurement, project-management, and supplier teams.
  10. Interact with suppliers to review manufacturability, inspection reports, technical deviations, and design-related issues.
  11. Support prototype and sample assembly, fitment checks, product testing, validation, root-cause analysis, and design improvements.
  12. Participate in design reviews and product-development meetings and communicate progress, risks, and open technical points.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/automotive
  2. At least 4 years of work experience as a CAD Designer or a similar role in the Engineering department
  3. Experience in automotive, inverter, motor-controller, power-electronics, or electromechanical product development is preferred
  4. Good time management and organizational skills
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  6. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
