CAE Engineer – Structural & Component FEA with Thermal
Position: CAE Engineer – Structural & Component FEA with Thermal
Experience: 5–8 years in vehicle structural and component FEA, with hands-on thermal / CFD
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech with M.Tech in Mechanical, Machine Design, Applied Mechanics or Thermal Engineering
About the role
Perform structural, fatigue and thermal analysis of the frame, body, suspension and battery enclosure of a four-wheel electric cargo vehicle.
Key responsibilities
- Define load cases and acceptance criteria: static payload, bump, braking, cornering, tip-over and lifting.
- Run FEA on the welded aluminium chassis frame, cabin frame, cargo box, seat frame and battery housing, including weld and heat-affected-zone strength in 6061-T6.
- Run modal analysis of the frame against motor and road inputs.
- Run component FEA and fatigue on control arms, knuckles, hubs, axles, steering linkage parts and brackets.
- Run battery enclosure thermal analysis to establish the cooling-fan requirement.
- Recommend design changes and close results with design engineers across iterative loops.
Skills and tools
- Weldment meshing; contact and bolted-joint modelling; linear and nonlinear static; modal; stress-life fatigue; conjugate heat transfer.
- HyperMesh; Abaqus or ANSYS Mechanical; nCode or FE-Safe; ANSYS Fluent or Icepak.
- Preferred: LS-DYNA for tip-over or drop cases.
