Experience: 5–8 years in automotive plastic / composite panel design, with load-body or container design exposure
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech Mechanical, Automobile or Plastics Engineering
About the role
Design the exterior body panels and the foldable cargo box of a four-wheel electric cargo vehicle.
Key responsibilities
- Design exterior panels and trims: roof, front, rear, mud and wheel-arch panels, headlight panel, mirror trims and charging port door.
- Select material and process per panel (PP, ABS, FRP, thermoformed sheet).
- Define wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, attachment to the cabin frame, gap and flush.
- Design mountings for head lamps, indicators, brake lamps, reflectors and cargo lamps.
- Design a ~1400 L cargo box with panel joinery and a foldable concept, targeting weight reduction; define quick-release attachment to the chassis.
- Develop a cargo box swapping trolley / jack concept (lift height, locking, operator effort); place decals.
- Produce 2D drawings with GD&T.
Skills and tools
- Plastic and composite part design for injection moulding and thermoforming; surface modelling; sheet metal / sandwich panel joinery; hinge and fold mechanisms; GD&T.
- CATIA V5 GSD or Siemens NX surfacing; SolidWorks sheet metal; mould-flow awareness.
- Preferred: load-body, container or trailer body design experience.
